The Neo Geo X Gold isn’t the only “new” portable system arriving this holiday. A company named At Games are bringing out an “Ultimate Portable Game Player” device that is essentially a portable Sega Genesis with 80 games loaded onto it.
One of the gems is Mega Man: The Wily Wars, the only Mega Man game released for the Genesis. This rare title was only released on the Sega Channel, an online service from Sega that offered downloadable games, in North America. Mega Man: The Wily Wars has remakes of the first three Mega Man games with new graphics and the Wily Tower, a brand new area with three Genesis bosses. Mega Man: The Wily Wars wasn’t released on Virtual Console either so this game is pretty rare!
Among the highlights are: Street Fighter II: The New Challengers, Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master, Sonic and Knuckles, and others. 40 of the 80 games are Sega Genesis titles. The other 40 games are “arcade” games such as Air Hockey and Chess and Sudoku Quiz. You can find the full list here.
More games will be released for download on the Ultimate Portable Game Player, and you’ll be able to load them onto an SD card (not included with the device) that goes into an in-built SD card slot.
The Ultimate Portable Game Player will come with a 2.8” screen and a built-in rechargeable battery that you can charge with the included USB cable. If you have an AV cable (not included), you can plug the device into your television as well.
The Ultimate Portable Game Player will be released on November 13th and will cost $60.
