Instagram has revolutionized how we see and exchange photos. I’ll bet we never thought that sending photos of the kids to relatives far away could be so easy. And with Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr integration pics can be shared beyond our inner circle. But what about those people that may not be so web savvy? Or what if you want them from more than your tablet or phone?

Silicon Valley-based D2M, Design to Matter, saw this need and took to finding a solution. The Instacube enables you to actively stream your Instagram feed. Seems simple, but the uses are numerous. Simply connect the 7.5”
For a few years now, Archos have been build cheap tablets that have met with varying feedback. Previously they were at the top end of the premium media player market. Recently Archos are in the process of releasing a newer, mid-range, varient of their fairly popular Archos 101. The XS combines a more quality feel with some unique design decisions. Here we will take a first look at a pre-release build of their latest flagship device.

Android 4.2 Jelly Bean builds on the foundation set by Android 4.1. The list of new features in Android 4.2 may not be all that long, but there are plenty of under-the-hood tweaks that make Jelly Bean -- and Android -- better than ever.

Google has refreshed its Android operating system twice this year. First, it unveiled Android 4.1 in June, and later, Android 4.2 in October. Both use the same Jelly Bean name. The June update was a significant refresh that added a number of new features, most notably "Project Butter" for speeding up the overall performance of the platform and Google Now for voice searches and other, personalized information. The October update further tweaked the Jelly Bean code and introduced several new capabilities. This review provides a detailed look at Android 4.2 in particular, with some discussion about Android 4.1 for the sake of being thorough.
Last week IBM looked at the effect of social networks at online retailers on Black Friday and found… nothing.

Or almost next-to-nothing: IBM said social sites generated a mere 0.34 percent of all online sales. Referral traffic to retailers from social sites was also just about zero: IBM said Facebook only accounted for 0.68 percent of visits to retail sites, while Twitter had a giant goose egg.

Can’t be, right? Those are huge platforms. Surely IBM got its numbers wrong, via some sort of technical or statistical oversight?

If so, you’d think that Facebook or Twitter might want to publicly dispute those stats, since they poke a hole in their “buy our ads, use our services, and sell more stuff” pitch.
T-Mobile USA has long been on the sidelines of the iPhone revolution, but the carrier is working hard to change that.

Until very recently, T-Mobile had very little shot at being able to carry the iPhone. Although it uses the same type of network technology as AT&T, it uses a different band of spectrum for its higher-speed data network.

That has meant that one of two things would have had to happen in order for there to be a T-Mobile-capable iPhone. Either Apple would have to build in support for

When Facebook teaches its staff about how to detect and prevent cyberattacks, there isn’t some hum-drum Power Point presentation. Instead, it hacks its own employees.

The company told Mashable it recently celebrated its second-annual “Hacktober,” a month-long event in October which features a series of simulated security threats attacking staffer computers to see who would fall for them and who would report the issues.

If employees reported a phishing scam or security threat developed by Facebook — which showed up throughout the site or sent to company email addresses — they received a prize such as a Facebook-branded shirt, bandana or sticker. If the security threat went unreported or was clicked, staffers would undergo further training.

Microsoft today added another $250 million to its Partners In Learning Project, a global professional development program it has created to equip teachers with the skills they need to teach IT and other future-looking subjects. Microsoft has been running this program since 2003 and to date has invested $750 million in the project.

It is a bit of soft diplomacy/marketing for Microsoft — education, after all, is one of Microsoft’s target verticals for its software and IT services businesses. Projects have included teacher training in IT and other “21st century skills,” as it calls them, and it also works with governments on digital inclusion programs and links up with its YouthSpark education initiative.
The iPhone’s Calendar app is pretty good overall, and that’s something that even Fantastical creator and Flexibits co-founder Michael Simmons admitted to in an interview regarding the launch of Fantastical for iPhone today. But “pretty good” also means there’s plenty of room for improvement, and that’s where Simmons and co-founder Kent Sutherland saw opportunity.

“iCal for Mac at the time was broken, it was bad,” Simmons explained, describing why they went to the Mac first. “At that time, everyone, even beta testers and family members were like ‘Why aren’t you doing iPhone? iPhone’s hot, iPhone iPhone iPhone,’ and we just didn’t have anything in our minds that we thought was needed. We thought the built-in calendar for iPhone at the time was pretty good.”

Social video chat app Rounds has reason to be proud: the company has raised a total of $5 million in funding and now has more than six million users across the breadth of its platform, which includes Facebook, Chrome, and desktop. Today, however, the company is launching a brand new mobile app for the first time called Rounds Video Chat Hangout.

Along with facilitating a standard video chat, the Hangout app lets users who are already spending time together (in the real world) continue to interact on their phone.

In Rounds Video Chat Hangout, users can watch YouTube videos together, upload photos for shared viewing, and add video effects to the media they send to one another. Users can even draw or scribble over their friends’ video messages. And to get even more creative, the Rounds Hangout app lets the
Does Verizon have the best smartphone line-up of any of the US carriers today? With Samsung’s Galaxy Note II finally arriving, that may well be the case; the 5.5-inch phablet snuggles up on shelves next to the DROID DNA by HTC and the iPhone 5, and is priced at $299.99 with a new, two-year agreement.

That’s the same price as AT&T is charging for its version of the Note II, while T-Mobile apparently isn’t keen to actually sell any itself, with its $369.99 sticker. All demand a two-year agreement, though T-Mobile does have a prepaid option on the phone, with no monthly commitment but a $649.99 price tag upfront.

Okay PS3 and X360 owners, say goodbye to Dragon Age 3. Not that you really cared about, especially after the atrocious second part of this series, but let’s be honest here; most of you wanted to see whether BioWare would bring the series back to its former glory. Well, if you’re still interested in it, you’ll have to wait until 2014 and purchase one of the next-generation consoles. Or stick with the PC.
Well known hacked Marcan, who played a part in hacking the PS3, has found out the clock speeds of the Wii U. It’s surprising how slow it is, and I’m actually having troubles even thinking Nintendo went with something like that. It’s a well known fact that the PS3 Cell and Xbox 360 Xenon run at 3.0 GHZ each per core, but the Wii U CPU runs at 1.243125 GHz per core.

“It’s a Three PowerPC 750 type cores (similar to Wii’s Broadway, but more cache),” tweeted Marcan.

Microsoft today made Skype 4.2 available for Apple's iOS devices via the App Store. The key change to Skype is the addition of support for Microsoft's Messenger, Hotmail, and Outlook.com services. iOS device users can sign in with a Microsoft account and merge their Skype and Microsoft contact databases. The app also allows iOS device users to conduct instant message chats with Windows Live messenger accounts. Other new features include the ability to edit IM messages, add animated emoticons, and create a new account from within the app itself. Skype 4.2 for iOS is a free download from the App Store.

Research In Motion ceded the consumer smartphone market to Apple and Google years ago, and soon it will cede business market as well. New research from IDC indicates that enterprise — perhaps the last stronghold of RIM’s once great BlackBerry empire — is increasingly switching to iPhone and Android and suggests the BlackBerry’s days as the business world’s smartphone of choice may soon be over.

“Apple iOS devices are being brought into the enterprise in droves, both by corporate and by employee purchase,” IDC explained. “In fact, [we believe] that by the end of 2012, iOS will be the number 1 corporate-liable operating system (OS) device by volumes
Samsung and US Cellular have a brand new smartphone available for their regional customers today although we haven’t heard a peep from either party. Meet the new Samsung Galaxy Axiom complete with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, a 4-inch display and running with some 4G LTE speeds. The phone is available today so read on for more details.

At first glance and after looking over the specs this looks and sounds quite a bit like the recently announced Samsung Galaxy S III Mini, but the specs are a little

FIFA 13 Ultimate Team was taken down on console and smartphone formats due to issues discovered with the mode’s trade pile and auction house features. The issues have been resolved and the mode is back on all formats. Get the details below.

CVG reports that the FIFA 13 Ultimate Team trade pile was experiencing issues, such as trade cards vanishing, and purchased cards sticking in the pile, unable to be transferred to a player’s team.
f Apple does live up to its promise and proceeds to launch a new Pro-level Mac for power users next year, it should boast the AMD Radeon HD 7XXX series of graphics cards, as discovered by Netkas.org in OS X 10.8.3.

Rummaging through the video card drivers listed in the first OS X 10.8.3 beta released by Apple this week, the software-centric blog was able to confirm that Mountain Lion is set to support “ATI 7000 drivers.”

The confirmation comes by way of two files (listed below) neatly tucked away in the Graphics/Displays department of Apple’s System Report (previously known as System Profiler).
A Korean publication that often leaks news about Samsung and LG's mobile plans, now claims that the LG Optimus G2 has been pulled ahead of schedule and will be released concurrently with the eventual Galaxy S IV about six months from now.

This puts the release for May next year, and the specs are what we would expect from a truly high-end Android in 2013 - the 5" Full HD LCD panel with 440ppi pixel density you see in the thumb image, supplied by LG Display itself, and a 2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon Prime processor with a frugal 3rd generation LTE radio inside.

Benchmark result sites are fertile ground for finding info on unannounced phones. The latest discovery is a Samsung GT-I9400, which judging by its model number might be the Galaxy S IV.

The rumored specs of the upcoming Samsung flagship are pretty spectacular - 4.99" 1080p Super AMOLED screen, 13MP camera and Exynos 5450 chipset (quad-core Cortex-A15 CPU, Mali-658 GPU).

The NenaMark 2 result page, however, paints a different picture.
Apple continued to win out in terms of tablet market share this past quarter, according to the latest figures from ABI Research, with a 55 percent share of all shipments during the period. That’s a lead it has had since 2010 when the iPad was introduced, but it’s also the slimmest lead it’s ever had, and represents a dip of 14 percent versus the previous quarter. At this rate, Android could overtake the iPad for tablet share sometime next year, something which seemed unlikely or even impossible in 2010 and 2011.
Video-sharing site Vimeo has updated its iPhone app, working to improve its upload process and simplify navigation for watching other people’s videos. A lot of the big changes in the iPhone app revolve around things that Vimeo has taken out, rather than what it’s put in. For instance, the app has streamlined the process of getting their videos onto Vimeo, first by removing the editor — which not a lot of people used anyway — and by making uploads a lot faster.
Microsoft said it believes it has identified a problem that was causing some Windows Phone 8 devices to reboot without warning.

The company said it hopes to deliver an over-the-air software fix next month.

“We’re continuing to investigate some reports of phones rebooting and have identified a cause with our partners,” Microsoft said in a statement on Tuesday. “We are working to get an over-the-air update out in December.”
Skype has just updated its iOS app, making it much easier to merge Skype accounts with your Microsoft account.

Microsoft recently decided to phase out Windows Live Messenger in favor of Skype, finally putting the $8.5 billion acquisition to good use, which allows users to Skype with Messenger, Hotmail, and Outlook.com contacts.

To enjoy the update, users can sign into Skype with their Microsoft account and all the information, including history and contacts, will immediately be merged with their Skype account.

The Apple-Samsung saga continues, folks. Today, a Dutch court has now banned several Samsung Galaxy devices from selling in the Netherlands. Apple has been rewarded the ban from the court because Samsung was accused of infringing on an Apple patent relating to the navigation interface in photo galleries.

Apple and Samsung have already been through this dance once before on the same exact patent issue last year. Samsung was accused of implementing the same “bounce back” feature as iOS when scrolling through images, so Samsung replaced it with a blue flash that would appear on the edges of images. However, Samsung
A European watchdog group has hit two individuals said to be responsible for millions of SMS spam messages with a £440,000 (just over $700,000 USD) fine. Christopher Niebel and Gary McNeish reportedly told clients they could send out over 800,000 texts a day on their behalf. They catered to businesses questionable in their own right: BBC News reveals Niebel and McNeish were often employed by claims management companies on the hunt for injury claims that could be forwarded to lawyers.

"They maxed out 70 SIM cards per day"
Microsoft is busy preparing its next-generation Windows client, shortly after shipping Windows 8 in October. The Verge has learned from several sources familiar with Microsoft’s plans that the company is planning to standardize on an approach, codenamed Blue, across Windows and Windows Phone in an effort to provide more regular updates to consumers.

Originally unveiled by ZDNet, the update on the Windows side, due in mid-2013, will include UI changes and alterations to the entire platform and pricing. We’re told that Microsoft is aiming to make Windows Blue the next OS that everyone installs. The approach is simple, Microsoft will price its next Windows release at a low cost or even free to ensure users upgrade. Once Windows Blue is released, the Windows SDK will be updated to support the new release and Microsoft will stop accepting apps that are built for Windows 8, pushing developers to create apps for Blue.

Earlier this month we learned that if Google does not agree to settle with the FTC over alleged abuses, it will be forced to face a formal complaint from the organization.

Bloomberg reports this afternoon that Google CEO Larry Page met with FTC officials today to discuss the investigation and to persuade them that the folks in Mountain View haven’t been breaking any antitrust laws. The report also adds that settlement talks have been ongoing for roughly a week.

The FTC has been looking into Google for alleged abuses regarding its large reach over the Internet for roughly two years. FTC Chairman Jonathan Leibowitz is requesting Google make an offer and “won’t accept a resolution short of a consent decree.”

Rdio's done a pretty decent job at often keeping its desktop and mobile apps updated with fresh features. With that in mind, the streaming service has just pushed out v2.0 of its iOS application, which includes a novel and very sleek design that, as you can see above, brings an all-new navigation bar, as well as the addition of a unified player to make syncing across multiple devices easier and a remote control feature to let folks tinker with other Rdio apps. Of course, this new version (2.0.0, to be precise) is compatible with the usual iOS suspects (iPod touch, iPhone and iPad) -- and, better yet, you can grab the updated app now directly from your Cupertino device or via the source link below.

Netflix just refreshed the front end of its Android app a few weeks ago, and is now tweaking the look and functions of the player itself again after previously making changes back in April. As seen above, version 2.1 brings a look that's closer to the one we've seen on iOS since the spring, with large red buttons, a bigger volume slider, 10 second skip back and stills that change in the background as the user moves the scrub bar. The changelog also notes added support for Android 4.2 plus other unspecified playback and stability bug fixes, grab the newest edition at the source link to try it out for yourself.

Since Google Drive launched in April, millions of people have started using Drive to keep, create and share files. Starting today, it’s even easier to share with others: you can insert files from Drive directly into an email without leaving your Gmail.

Outlook.com broke the 10 million user mark in August, and managed to break past 1 million in its first day live as a service. Today Microsoft has announced that its new email service has more than 25 million active users.

Microsoft, a company whose email product, Hotmail, had become a punch line, has managed to build a product that appears to resonate well with consumers.

For fun, here’s a chart of Outlook.com’s user growth:
On the strength of iPhone 5 sales, iOS has once again reached the top spot for smartphone market share in the United States, according to new data from Research firm Kantar Worldpanel Comtech (via Reuters). According to the report that tracked smartphone sales over the last 12 weeks ending Oct. 28, iOS now accounts for 48.1-percent of the U.S. smartphone market. That’s up 25 percent year-over-year, and it officially bumps Android into second place, but is still just shy of the record 49.3-percent it was able to capture earlier this year.

Android was down from 63.3-percent marketshare over the same 12-week period last year to just 46.7-percent today. As for the rest of the world, you can see from Kantar’s data for other countries in the chart below that Android still dominates in most other countries, including: 54.2-percent of the market in Britain, 81.7-percent of the market in Spain, and 73.9-percent in Germany.
Samsung announced today that it sold a total of 5 million Galaxy Note II units worldwide, following its announcement earlier this month that 3 million were sold. That means the South Korean-manufacturer moved 2 million 5.5-inch phablets in just under a month —surely thanks to its availability in the United States on AT&T. Sales aren’t as high as the Samsung Galaxy S III that competes side-by-side with Apple’s iPhone 5; however, it is interesting that a large chunk of customers want a larger handheld experience. Being available in various parts of Asia, Europe, North America, Latin America, Middle East, and Africa, the 5.5-inch device will likely have a strong holiday quarter adding to this month’s strong sales.

Regarding the Google-Dish tie up that was reported last night, we just got word that this is really happening. While the details haven’t been finalized, Google is already deep into development on plans to roll out the service and have it live by mid-late 2013.

Google plans to make the service data-only with voice and SMS only being used as VoIP services, likely with Google Voice. Google of course already has its ISP feet on the ground with its Fiber rollout on the Stanford Campus and its just-opened Kansas City network.
Facebook’s philosophy was once to give its employees iPhones for day-to-day use; however, the company wants to use Android handsets instead now. TechCrunch gave more information on previous reports this weekend, reporting that Facebook’s big Android push is due to the company wanting to reform its mobile apps on the world’s most popular mobile operating system.

“We’ve created more awareness that Android devices are available,” Facebook told TechCrunch. “There’s plenty of people here carrying around both devices, and not just engineers and not just mobile people.”

TechCrunch got their hands on several posters hanging throughout the hallways of Facebook that encourage employees to make the switch. To make the switch, employees are told to email their phone number, model, and carrier to Facebook help desk.
Just when we all got used to this darn mouse thing these darn tablets have to come along. And face it, they can do many of the daily tasks of a computer. I know many of you have migrated away from laptop where possible. Touchscreens are easy and intuitive. Yet there are still some minor actions and motions where touching still remains a challenge.

Welcome to better touchscreen control. Ringbow proves to make navigation on a touchscreen as smooth as possible.  There are two ways to use Ringbow. First, At-Distance control where you
Nokia's latest flagship device, the Lumia 920, has finally graced us with its prescience. While the device is a real beauty you must bear in mind that it is a heavy phone - weighing 185g, and isn't as thin as some of the Windows Phone  competitors. That doesn't put me off but to many it may.

Running Windows Phone 8 the Lumia 920 not only offers the latest mobile OS from Microsoft but also Nokia's own apps such as Nokia Drive and Nokia Maps. Combined with what looks to be a stunning camera, including the PureView Technology, I suspect the 920 could be the Windows Phone with the most success. However, will the general consumer agree? Only time will tell.

Despite shipping its new Wii U console recently, Nintendo appears to be readying an additional video games system for the holiday season. Best Buy Canada has revealed a Wii Mini console on its online pages, with pre-orders that appear to be available soon. The site also suggests that the console will be released on December 7th.

Previous rumors have suggested that the Wii Mini will include a sensor bar, nunchuck, and Wii Remote Plus with jacket. Best Buy has only revealed a small image of the Wii Mini, but it appears to confirm that this is the second redesign of the Wii Console, following

The iPhone 5 and iOS 6 have received their official first update for Google Voice, the app Google produces to keep the whole world in with their own lovely collection of phone numbers. The Google Voice app for those that have been working with it for some time will not notice a whole lot different as far as functionality, but they will find their whole iPhone 5 4-inch display being utilized. This update comes with a collection of bug fixes as well.

The iPhone 5 version of Google Voice also works for legacy devices and remains the same for the iPad and iPad mini as well. You’ll find that the app works just as well or better than it ever has, especially considering its functionality hasn’t changed in several weeks and months. Google Voice allows users to work with their own phone number on many smartphones regardless of carrier or cellular plan and SIM.

Google has fought in courtrooms around the world in recent years, arguing that it is not responsible for the content in its search results, and this month it lost a battle in Australia. The Supreme Court of Victoria ruled on November 12th that Google is responsible for having published search results leading to a defamatory page which contained rumors that Michael Trkulja, a music promoter, was linked to murder and organized crime. Google argued, as it has in the past, that it's not responsible for offensive material that other
Today is beta-release day at Mozilla, and the organization is launching new beta versions of Firefox for the desktop and Android. This time around, the desktop version is set to get the most interesting updates, including the new IonMonkey just-in-time JavaScript compiler, as well as support for Macs with Retina displays and W3C Touch Event support for machines with touchscreens. On Android, Firefox now offers better phishing protection and – as an opt-in – search suggestions.
Traffic is generally a good thing for websites. But perhaps Pinterest, which has been called the third most popular social network after Facebook and Twitter, has enough.

Pinterest blocked traffic from Amazon and other websites on Black Friday last week, according to Pinfluencer, a Pinterest analytics service. Socialtimes reported today that extra holiday traffic — and suspected malicious activity — prompted Pinterest to refuse queries from the sites.

Editor’s Note: A press release was sent out this morning with the details of what appeared to be an acquisition of a wireless company called ICOA by Google. Almost immediately after the news was posted, TNW noted spelling errors and lack of corroboration by Google as evidence that something was fishy about it. We had reached out immediately for confirmation but did not have it at the time of publishing.

Expect it before 15th December

Ubisoft has a plenty of Wii U titles available on launch with the likes of ZombiU, Assassin’s Creed III and Rabbids Land to name a few. Rayman Legends unfortunately didn’t make it into the launch line up and is now penned in for an early 2013 release. To alleviate some of the woes, Ubisoft was due to make a demo available on the Wii U eShop for fans to get at least some of their Rayman fix on launch day, though at the time of writing it's yet to arrive.

A dozen of Windows 8 users are complaining that a Windows 8 update causes the Start Screen to freeze, while all the other apps fail to respond.

While Microsoft is yet to confirm the problem, it appears that most consumers affected by the issue have deployed an official Windows 8 update, although some of them are actually claiming that all problems appeared two or three days after the update has been installed.

Google is committed to the Chromebook and a report out of China indicates a Google-branded model is on its way. If true, this is a smart move and would help the fledgling desktop platform gain traction. The sellout success of recent Nexus products shows Google finally knows how to do hardware.

China Times reports Google intends to launch Chrome OS netbooks equipped with touchscreens. Compal, a Taiwan-based ODM, is tasked with the manufacturing. Per

Windows Phone fans have had a plethora of news about Windows Phone 8 in recent weeks, with the WP8 launch event taking place at the end of October and shiny new phone hardware finding its way into shops. But when it comes to Windows Phone 7.8 — the last ever update for WP7, the older version of the OS built on an entirely different kernel to WP8 — Microsoft has been strangely silent.

The 7.8 update will bring the new, more flexible homescreen to 7.x Windows Phones — and, well, so

The lawyers revved up their sand rovers, the heavy engines rising to a whine. It was near midnight plateau was lit but huge kliegs, the light spreading across the Hamada like a fire. Curley, the oldest lawyer who once fought for Sun in an anti-trust battle, pulled his serrated machete from its scabbard and called for quiet.

“This is it, men, a challenge, just like in the Before Times,” he shouted. The lawyers and paralegals,
